Before explaining further, we would like to say that there are no such hairs as Brazilian hairs, Peruvian Hairs or Malaysian Hairs, these are all made up terms. Actually, There are three types of human hair extensions :
- Virgin Hair Extensions
- Remy Hair Extensions
- Non Remy Hair Extensions
VIRGIN HAIR EXTENSIONS – Virgin hairs are the highest quality human hairs available in the market. These are the hairs which have never gone through chemical process (no perms, no hair color, no chemical treatment)
These hairs are collected from virgin hair donors usually younger women and hence the hairs are healthy with no greys or split ends. These hairs doesn’t require any processing to make it look beautiful. These are naturally soft and shiny. Virgin hairs lasts upto 2 years, if the care of hair extensions is done properly.
These virgin human hairs are mostly used for making wigs and making hairs wefts, tape extensions, clip ons, u-tip and i-tip hair extensions.
REMY HAIR EXTENSIONS – Remy hair extensions are the most popular human hair extensions in international market due to its quality and price. In the collection process of Remy hairs, the hairs are cut / shaved off from the head of donor in such a way that hairs are aligned in natural direction as it grew and all hair strands follow the same direction and hence there is no tangling or matting. And since these hairs are not processed with any chemicals, so, hair cuticles are also intact, which results in longetivity of hairs and it gives the freedom to user to style these hairs in as many wash as you want.
NON REMY HAIR EXTENSIONS – With Non Remy Hairs, the collection process of hairs varies (from the floors of temples or salons or random supplies) so the cuticle directions become mixed which causes tangling and shedding and matting problems. Hence, non remy hairs are processed with harsh chemicals and hair cuticles are removed completely and then hairs are coated with silicon to make hairs smooth and look shiny.
However, these non remy hairs are not durable. With number of washes, the silicon coating slowly goes away resulting in harsh and brittle hairs. Non remy hair extensions are also not able to tolerate color treatment or heat process.
